Vineyard

Brosseau Vineyard | Chalone AVA

Brosseau Vineyard is located in the Chalone appellation of Monterey County, California. Nestled against the Gavilan Mountain Range, this region was awarded AVA status in 1982 for its unique soils and climate. Our grapes grow on one of the largest limestone and granite deposits in the world, at an elevation that experiences much less fog than the valley below, with rapid temperature swings from morning to night. This combination results in lower grape yields with a complex concentration of varietal aromas and flavors.

We respect and honor this special place by taking a very minimalistic approach to both farming and winemaking – letting the land clearly tell its story in each and every bottle. When we began our transition to organic farming practices in 2006, we knew it would be a long, slow, and costly effort. We stuck with it because we believe in (a) creating the purest, most character filled-wine possible, and (b) being conscientious and responsible to future generations. We are proud of the fact that ten years ago we were the first vineyard in the Chalone AVA to be Certified Organic.
